Course Description:
This workshop will examine the five components of Structured Teaching methodology: Physical Structure, Individual Schedules, Work Systems, Routines and Visual Strategies for Teaching, and Visual Structure of Instructional Materials. Participants will explore the "culture" of Autism and utilize instructional strategies (visual supports and structured teaching) which cultivate the students' interests and strengths. Participants will learn strategies to enhance student learning, independence, communication, social skills, and success as well as decrease challenging behaviors. Focus on Transition Planning and age-appropriate skills.
