Course Description: This 4-day workshop series is intended only for Teachers who are new to the field of Autism and instructing Students with ASD for the first time. Participants will learn the characteristics and culture of Autism, current research, resources, assessment, lesson planning, and effective methodologies. The participants will learn through hands-on activities how to establish the basics in their classroom, set instructional priorities, and utilize proactive behavioral strategies - specifically related to Students on the Spectrum. The primary objective of this workshop is to put theory into practice. Topics will include establishing classroom physical structures, collecting data, linking assessment with IEP objectives and planning for instruction.
