Course Description:
The Inclusive IEP is a 3-day workshop for Teams of Assistant Principals, SETSS Providers, and Counselors supporting Students in inclusive programs that focus on answering the question: How do IEP goals relate to skills being taught in the classroom?
Based on documents and memos from the NYCDOE's Central Office and District 75, Day One teaches the page-by-page process of writing the IEP. Emphasizing the benefits of team knowledge, Participants learn to support an IEP meeting and construct a supportive and targeted IEP through small group work. The content of that IEP is assessed as a Team through the Quality Indicator Check List. (Please note: Day One is also Nuts and Bolts Session 3: 10/22/2009).
Priority Goals and the monitoring of IEP goals are taught to Participants during Day Two. Types of assessment, criteria for alternate and standardized assessments, promotional mandates, and earning credits will be taught. Participants will be required to bring an IEP that they have written and discussions will be focused around its content.
This is a hands-on workshop where the Participants will use goals they have written for Students and connect them to Standards. Functional skills being taught in the classroom will be the focus on Day Three.
