D75-25-271: A Hands-on Approach for Implementing a School-Based Feeding Program
Feeding 2025/2026

Description: This 2-DAY project-based professional development will adapt a Professional Learning Community (PLC) model. Teams of therapists and staff (if applicable) will work closely with the District 75 Feeding Team to learn, hands-on, the step-by-step process of setting up and implementing a feeding program in their school. Participating teams will work together to build their own program from start to finish. This will include: Establishing their team, conducting parent interviews, identifying, observing, and evaluating students with feeding issues, setting IEP goals and/or mealtime plans based on findings, and implement learned management/treatment strategies. This is a virtual PD. If participants are interested they can schedule an in person meeting with the D75 Feeding Team post PD to assess your programs and trouble shoot if needed. REQUIREMENT: Participants will document their experiences and prepare a video and/or power point presentation to exchange ideas and to learn/enhance best practices for school-based feeding programs. Prerequisites: -Must have attended previous Feeding PDs within last 5 years -Have 2 or more students on your caseload or in your program that have been identified as having feeding issues -Have an interest in learning how to set up a feeding program in your school -Be able to attend both days with at least one other therapist or teacher/staff from your school
