Inclusive Education 2020/2021

Description: This asynchronous professional learning opportunity is targeted towards educators supporting students in inclusive programs in a District 1-32 school, supported by District 75 services. The goal of this session is to introduce the meaning of “instructional access” and walk through a planning process for providing access for students with disabilities in general education classroom settings. Participants will be introduced to the concepts of Universal Design for Learning, Differentiated Instruction, Specially Designed Instruction and “zone of proximal development” in relation to providing instructional access for students. Participants will also be able to think through appropriate alterations to curriculum, content, instruction, objectives and materials to allow access for students. This course is relevant during and after the time period of blended and remote learning; educators may need to generalize information to make specific connections to this time period. It should take approximately 90 minutes to complete.
