Mathematics (STEM) 2018/2019

Description: Getting around NYC can be no easy feat and often we do not realize how much mathematics we do everyday without knowing. This one-day workshop will focus on developing students understanding of mathematics through real-NYC problem solving. Participants will deepen their mathematical understanding through hands-on activities, projects, scholarly research, and visual modeling to support students in learning. The day will target skills such as counting, reading schedules & planning trip, part-whole awareness, and much more. All activities will be age-appropriate no math the specific math content standard. This workshop will reflect 1a, 1e, 3c, and 4e of the Danielson Framework for Teaching.
