D75-18-331: Implementing AAC Across the Day for teams- Cohort 3 (2nd year speech therapists)
Speech 2018/2019
Description: This 2-day workshop series is for classroom teams (teacher, speech therapist, and paraprofessional). Other staff is also encouraged to attend. Team members should be working with the same class/students. The workshop will focus on engaging students using communication devices/systems during classroom lessons. Teams will be shown how to differentiate instruction based on students' language levels. Specific implementation strategies, such as use of routines, prepared communication opportunities and peer-to-peer communication, will be presented. No-Tech picture/object exchange strategies can be part of a powerful communication program, often used with children on the autism spectrum. Teams will learn no- tech strategies on the first day, see examples and participate in hands-on practice. Speech therapists may attend without a classroom teacher.
