Description: "Reading and math skills must go hand-in-hand for the student to become a successful learner Math Through Childrens Literature. Ever wish you had the right book to go along with your math lesson? Now is your opportunity to create a math book for your class, based on your lesson. Adapted books provide students with a focused visual aid that helps them make connections and develop math language and vocabulary. We will look at the components of a model book and discuss the many adaptations that can be applied. Plan and create your own book, or adapt a pre-existing one, to strengthen communication skills and provide your students with the opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of a math concept. Your books will include story problems, questioning, and activities that check for understanding.
