D75-18-321: Project-Based Learning within the Social Studies Classroom; Applying Knowledge through Hands-on Projects
Social Studies 2018/2019

Description: This one-day professional learning session will guide participants in creating hands on project based lessons in accordance with Social Studies Scope & Sequence and Common Core Learning Standards. Participants will be introduced to three hands on projects that they can incorporate into their classrooms as a way of assessing a students knowledge in social studies standards. The purpose of incorporating projects into the classroom is to explore concepts more deeply and increase student engagement. The projects will include a diorama, a collage and reporter/interview activity. Also, participants will engage in small group work to create these projects and then share the work with the other participants. Participants will receive a one-day course completion certificate from the District 75 Office of Literacy and Social Studies. This workshop is CTLE approved and is open to administrators, teachers, paraprofessionals, related service providers and SETSS providers.
