Description: 1 day workshop focusing on gender and gender non-conforming & LGBTQ students. Participants will explore social constructs of gender, stereotypes, and the unique struggles of LGBTQ students. Participants will develop strategies and explore tools to support staff and students in LGBTQ issues. Family and community supports will also be addressed. Skills discussed in this training are 1b Demonstrating Knowledge of Students, 2a Creating an Environment of Respect and Rapport, 2b Establishing a Culture for Learning, 3a Communicating with Students, 3b Using Questioning and Discussion Techniques, 3e Demonstrating Flexibility and Responsiveness, 4e Growing and Developing Professionally, 4f Showing Professionalism.
