D75-19-175: READY FOR ACCESS - Universal Design For Learning (UDL) in the 12:1:4
AT/UDL 2019/2020

Description: This PD is focused on improving strategies for INSTRUCTIONAL ACCESS in the 12:1:4 Classroom. This is for educators who want to improve access to the curriculum for students that have learning obstacles. By learning strategies to help remove barriers from learning methods and materials, educators can empower students to be more engaged in the learning process. This session will explore solutions that can make a big difference for students struggling with reading, writing and physical access to the curriculum. A variety of technologies will be explored with a focus on tools that can be easily obtained or are already a part of operating systems commonly available in school computers and devices. Case studies will be presented and solutions will be highlighted. We will explore research and data that support alternate methods of instuction that use these tools. Participants will be encouraged to discuss the needs of students they work with, and collaboratively we will suggest strategies to implement so educators leave feeling empowered to support their students more effectively.
