D75-25-234: Guggenheim Partnership - Transformative Art Multipart Program
Arts 2025/2026
Description: D75 Arts and the Guggenheim Museum have partnered to present a multi-part program for D75 teachers and students centered on the theme of Transformation, exploring the essential question: How do artists transform materials to tell stories? This program invites students to explore how artists use materials, process, and abstraction to express ideas, challenge conventions, and elevate the everyday. By expanding the canon and connecting themes across Guggenheim exhibitions, students will engage with key concepts such as Materials & Process, Transforming the Everyday, and Abstraction as Transformation. The program includes a 1-day professional development workshop for teachers (offered on two dates; register for one only), followed by a teacher-led, 3-part classroom experience where students will observe selected artworks, learn about three featured artists, explore new techniques, create original artwork, and prepare pieces for a student art showcase and Family Day at the Guggenheim on Saturday, June 6. Participating teachers will receive a Program Guide and lesson materials at the PD. Priority will be given to D75 art teachers. This is the same PD repeated on 2 dates to exposure additional teachers, please only sign up for one section.
