D75-19-396: Experience-Based Learning Beyond the Social Studies Classroom; Making Field Trips Meaningful
Social Studies 2019/2020

Description: The purpose of this one-day professional learning session is to guide participants in creating meaningful, engaging field trips for their students in accordance with Social Studies Scope & Sequence and Common Core Learning Standards. Participants will be introduced to strategies and procedures that will turn their field trip into an educational experience filled with academic rigor and improved student awareness of the content area. Please note: This workshop day will begin at P811M and will then move to The Museum of Natural History for the remainder of the day. The entire group will proceed as a team to the museum during the day. Please be advised that this session requires extensive walking throughout the museum (and from the school to the museum). Please be sure to wear comfortable footwear and attire. This course will be worth it! Participants will receive a one-day course completion certificate from the District 75 Office of Literacy and Social Studies. This workshop is CTLE approved and is open to administrators, teachers, paraprofessionals, related service providers and SETSS providers.
