Description: This two-day interactive professional development experience is designed specifically for theater teachers seeking to deepen their understanding of communication and access to enhance student learning and performance. Participants will explore various communication systems, including AAC and picture-based supports, and learn how to incorporate them into classroom discussions, rehearsals, and stage work. The training will focus on designing inclusive environments that promote student independence, collaboration, and expressive voice. Teachers will also examine vocabulary tiers, effective questioning strategies, and tools to support learners at all communication levels. On Day 2, participants will apply these strategies using scripts from their own classrooms, culminating in a creative exercise where teachers exchange dialogue using AAC in a skit or musical number; raising and celebrating the voices of all students.
