D75-26-210: Therapeutic Approach to Sensory Based Feeding Difficulties: FALL

Description: Designed for SLPs, OTs, PTs, and teachers, this workshop addresses sensory-based feeding difficulties in students. Participants will explore how sensory processing directly impacts eating, drinking, and swallowing behaviors. The course offers clinical frameworks to evaluate and support "picky eaters," "problem feeders," and "non-eaters"—behaviors frequently observed in neurodivergent populations, such as children on the autism spectrum, or those transitioning away from tube-feeding. Participants will analyze the direct relationship between sensory processing systems and pediatric feeding/swallowing functions, evaluate and apply sensory-responsive treatment approaches, including the Sequential Oral Sensory (SOS) Approach, oral sensory desensitization, and Food Chaining strategies.
