D75-18-267: The Digital Math Classroom
Mathematics (STEM) 2018/2019

Description: THIS COURSE IS ALSO AVAILABLE UNDER THE MATH (STEM) AREA. Technology is ubiquitous these days and anyone can take a photo or video anywhere at any time. Also, it is well known that multimedia tools help to engage students in learning more effectively and make material more accessible. So why aren't you already integrating more technology into the mathematics classroom? After this training lack of skill or knowledge will no longer be the answer. Participants will be taught strategies on how to create and integrate multimedia tools into the classroom while learning how to model the math behind it. They will also receive numerous examples of effective multimedia integration to support student learning and differentiation. We will look at Dan Meyer's 3-Act Math Problem series, Estimation 180, Flocabulary, BrainPOP, and more digital tools that build mathematical understanding in engaging ways. We will be creating class videos also. CTLE credit is available. This addresses ISTE Educator Standards 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7.
