Description: This two-day course will prepare teachers for integrating the Common Core Learning Standards, specifically the Foundational Reading Standards and Language Standards into their daily instruction. The focus of this workshop is to guide classroom teachers to gain knowledge of practical strategies and tools for implementing "Word Work". Methods for how to teach print concepts, phonological awareness, phonics, word recognition and vocabulary will be centered around what the Common Core asks students to know and be able to do. This course will provide participants with strategies and activities to increase vocabulary across all disciplinary content areas. Teachers will enhance their pedagogy to support all learners by engaging in multisensory approaches in order to meet instructional outcomes. Teachers will explore the relationships between reading, writing, and word work.
