D75-18-314: Making a Social Studies Curriculum Map and Adapting Passport to Social Studies Lessons

Description: The purpose of this one-day professional learning session is to guide participants in creating a meaningful social studies curriculum map based on the New York City Department of Education Scope & Sequence and the Common Core Learning Standards. Participants will explore the NYC Social Studies Scope and Sequence and assemble a meaningful and relevant social studies curriculum map for their school to use.
Furthermore, participants will be introduced to strategies and procedures that they can use to adapt Passport to Social Studies and make it meaningful for their students. In groups and independently, participants will have the opportunity to adapt lessons from Passport and then share their results with the group. Participants will receive a one-day course completion certificate from the District 75 Office of Literacy and Social Studies. This workshop is CTLE approved and is open to administrators, teachers, paraprofessionals, related service providers and SETSS providers.
