D75-19-4015: Place Based Learning | Guggenheim
Arts 2019/2020

Description: Connect your classroom to the community, and see what happens when your students become immersed in NYC cultural institutions. Participation in this professional development will provide teachers and students the opportunity to engage in a place-based learning opportunity at the Guggenheim Museum, occurring in two parts. The first portion is a professional development designed for teachers who support students on the Autism Spectrum focusing on methods used in the “Guggenheim for All” program. The second portion will allow a limited number of teachers the opportunity to bring their students to a “Guggenheim for All” program. The "Guggenheim for All" program is designed for students on the Autism Spectrum, to promote communication, independence, awareness of ones-self in a new environment, and peer to peer socialization in galleries, classrooms and during arts making experiences, that includes two classroom visits by a museum educator and a museum visit for the class.
